Tanzania has recorded the highest jump witnessed so far in East Africa in terms of new corona virus cases.
On Monday, the country announced that it had recorded a total 84 new cases bringing its total to 254 from 147. At the same time, a total of 10 have so far lost their lives.
Making the announcement through a statement, the country's Health minister Ummy Mwalimu stated that the number emanated from people tested between April 18 and 20.
Out of the 84 cases, 16 came from the Zanzibar while the rest were from mainland.
In terms of distribution among the different provinces, the new positive cases are as follows; 33 from Dar es Salaam, Arusha 4, Mbeya 3, Kilimanjaro 3, Pwani 3, Tanga 3, Manyara 2, Tabora 1, Dodoma 3, Ruvuma 2, Morogoro 2, Lindi 1, Mara 1, Mwanza 3, Mwanza 1, Kagera 1 and Rukwa 2.
Out of all the cases confirmed, the patients are in a stable condition except 4 who are in a critical condition.
The country has continued to witnessed a high increase in cases having reported an additional 53 of them on Friday. This is despite the government's insistence on not banning public gatherings which could be the reason for the sudden rise.
